About S-HIV-1 OLIGOPEPTIDE-3 SP
A synthetic peptide modeled on a pathogen sequence, which makes it more speculative than standard cosmetic peptides.
Detailed Analysis
s-HIV-1 Oligopeptide-3 SP is a single chain protein containing 39 amino acids. It is synthetically produced based on the sequence for Gag Polyprotein which is found in the pathogenic virus, Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV-1). HIV-1 contains 500 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation, and consists of the proper sequence of the 20 amino acids. Although it is synthetically produced and does not contain the actual pathogen, the sequence is derived from a viral protein, which makes this a very unusual cosmetic ingredient. That kind of biologic novelty warrants a cautious score because independent dermal safety data are extremely limited.
